Support development projects - New Takoradi youth urged

The inhabitants of New Takoradi, a suburb of the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis in the Western Region, have been called upon to support development projects being undertaken in the area.

The call comes amidst some dissatisfactory attitude put up by some youth groups and individuals in the area towards the construction of a 20-seater place of convenience for the inhabitants.

Ms Anita Annan, a member of the community who confirmed the incident, told the Ghana News Agency that it took the intervention of the Ghana Police and other security agencies before the facility could be completed.

She added that the situation if not checked and curtailed could scare investors and other stakeholders from bringing good projects to the area.

Mr Emmanuel Adoko, Assembly man for Lower New Takoradi, appealed to the youth to rally behind projects that had the potential to improve the health and well-being of the entire society.

New Takoradi is a fishing community with a high unemployment rate located along the coast, it lacks basic sanitation infrastructures thus the inhabitants often use of the beach as their place of convenience.**
