The 1990 Year-group of the Tamale Senior High School (TAMASCO) has presented 20 desktop computers with their accessories to the management of the school to improve the teaching and learning of Information and Communication Technology.
The accessories include 20 Uninterrupted Power Service (UPS), one scanner, one printer and three blowers to ensure the safety and prolong the life span of the computers.
Mr Yahaya Zakaria Osman, the President of the year-group, who presented the computers on behalf of his colleagues, at the weekend, said the group mobilised funds through social media to purchase the items, valued at GHC50,000.
He said it was important for old students to pay attention to the needs of their alma mater to improve learning and teaching conditions saying, “If the various year groups of old students identify and solve one particular problem in their schools, there would be improvement.”
He said TAMASCO had turned out many students, some of who were occupying enviable positions both in the country and abroad.
He, therefore, appealed to all past students to contribute towards improving conditions in the school.
Alhaji Tahiru A. Mahama, the headmaster of the school, commended the group for the support and appealed to the old students of the school to support in the celebration of its 65th anniversary, which falls in 2016.
He announced that the 65th Anniversary celebrations would be launched in December, and that without their collective support, the school alone would not be able to organise a successful anniversary.
He said the 2000 Year-group of the Old Students Association of the school supported the 60th anniversary and expressed the hope to have a bigger celebration befit the school’s status as a premier secondary school in Northern Ghana.
