TMA, Zoomlion, Fire Service clean Tema

Tema, Feb 07, GNA - Workers of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, in conjunction with the Zoomlion and personnel of Tema Office of the Fire Service on Saturday undertook a four- hour cleaning exercise in Tema main market and the city centre.

Led by the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Mr David Quaye Annang, they swept the gutters, streets, pavements, the nearby community and cleared a heap of refuse at the discharging point of the market. Surprisingly the women, traders and residents looked unconcerned without making any attempt to participate in the exercise while the butchers refused to allow their shop to be cleaned. They said they made sales on Saturdays so any attempt to disrupt their business would make them run at a loss. Mr Annang appealed to residents to honour their civic responsibility by paying their refuse fees promptly so as to enjoy quality and regular house to house refuse collection.
