Members of Tema Ministers Organisation (TMO) will on July 2 embark on a “ Clean City Walk” through the principal streets to educate residents on the need to keep the city clean at all times.
TMO comprises Ministers of the Gospel within the Metropolis from various churches and para-church organisations that believe, preach and uphold the fundamental doctrine of redemption through Christ.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Tema on the aims and objectives of the Walk, Reverend Michael Asenso, Secretary of the Association said it would create awareness on making the streets free from filth; the need to desilt choked gutters, which lead to flooding; make the congregation become conscious of disposing litter in a healthy manner and above all, to have a healthy people with healthy minds and bodies.
Rev. Asenso said the Walk would bring together not less than 3,000 participants made up of senior, associate and assistant pastors, community youth associations and keep fit clubs, selected number of people from various companies, tertiary institutions and senior high schools.
He said as the participants walk through the principal streets with placards, banners and stickers, they would pick litters along the way.
The TMO Secretary said at the end of the three-hour walk, the participants would converge at the forecourt of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly, to be addressed by the dignitaries.
He urged residents in Tema to co-operate with TMO to make the Walk a success.**
