Tain PM Condemns Charges Against MP

The Presiding Member of the newly created Tain District Assembly, Lily Serwaa and other key figures at Seikwa have unanimously described as unmeritorious the scores of allegations leveled against the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, Hon. Joe Dankwah by a pressure group styling itself as ‘Tain Youth’ that he is incompetent.

According to the PM the group is a faceless body which is not known to the constituents and their charges published a couple of days ago by the Ghanaian Chronicle is a clear indication that they are not following the trend of development in the constituency and again are trying to serve as major impediment to social progress in the area. Madam Serwaa who read this from a three page document prepared and signed by members of another vociferous body called Concerned Youth said with just three years in office as MP, Joe Dankwa’s achievements surpassed that of his predecessor, Mr. Asiedu Nketia currently the General Secretary of the NDC who represented the people for twelve uninterrupted years.

According to the document the supposed Tain youth is hiding behind a political veil with the intension of soiling the hard won reputation of the sitting MP. Hon Serwaah said it would be unwise for some of them to sit down unconcerned while a few disgruntled individual with parochial interest to wish away so easily the contribution of the hardworking MP. She mentioned education, roads, water, electricity, health and other viable sectors as areas that have been given prime attention by the MP and as such he should be given credit rather than condemnation.

Touching on his muteness in parliament, the press release intimated that it should be seen as baseless and that he could not have undertaken projects like Seikwa Methodist J.S.S, Bepoase Presby Primary, Tanokrom L/A primay, Kyekyewere L/A J.S.S, Tainso Presby J.S.S and Nassana L /A school blocks as well as the Seikwa Presby if he is actually mute as alleged by the so called Tain Youth. Madam Seiwaah said it is only uninformed persons who think the work of a parliamentarian is to talk in the house alone. The release explained that politics is all about development and lobbying for projects is also an inseparable aspect of the work of a parliamentarian.

Hon. Serwaah took the opportunity to thank the MP for providing Seikwa Township with street lights to augment the existing ones, adding that Atomfoso and Tainso have been connected to the national grid whiles electricity poles have been procured through the MP’s common fund for the provision of Hydro electric power to Tanokrom, Bepoase, Nassana, Nkwanta, Kyekyewere and many others.

In a separate interview with Daily Guide, the paramount chief of Seikwa traditional area, Nana Dwuma –Ankoana II spoke vehemently against such unhealthy political game, saying such attitude should not be tolerated in this modern era at all. He said the time has come for people to eschew pettiness and work together to bring development. He warned the ‘Tain Youth’ to desist from politicizing developmental issues in the constituency because their utterances could go a long way to have adverse effect on the constituency.
