The Armed Forces Command of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) in the Northern region has received two ultra-modern two-storey accommodation block for it junior rank at the Tamale Airforce Base.
The two-storey accommodation facility is in line with the Ghana Armed Forces aim of reducing the huge accommodation deficit in the Ghana Armed Forces to the barest minimum, build the morale and welfare of the young airmen and women as well as enhanced its operational capabilities.
Addressing the young airmen and airwomen on his behalf, Chief of Defense Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Air Marshal Michael Samson-Oje said the provision of the accommodation facility for the troops and its effects is in line with the attainment of their strategic objectives for the year.
The two storey accommodation facility is expected to accommodate 320 young soldiers.
The facility will be fully furnished with beds, mattresses and kitchen wares.
Air Marshal Samson-Oje said the Ghana Armed Forces has made infrastructure development as its priority saying that they have outlined plans to ensure that critical matters such as accommodation, training of personnel, logistic and the operational readiness of the Armed Forces are improved. This he believes will go a long way to improve their professionalism and posture.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Maxwell Mansterbi-Tei Nagai in his speech noted that the state of housing for personnel of the Ghana Air Force has been improving steadily for quite some time now saying, it is the objective of the command that those improvement will be continues till they are able to accommodate all personnel within the barracks.
