The Assembly Member for the Padmore Electoral Area in Tema Community One, Charles Amos, has stated that the people of Tema East have a better parliamentary candidate in the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, than the incumbent MP, Isaac Ashai Odamtten.
As a result, he believes that a wind of change is already sweeping through the constituency, with constituents ready to replace Ashai Odamtten with the MCE.
"In the four years that Hon. Ashai Odamtten has been MP, we have hardly felt his presence in Parliament unlike his predecessor, Hon. Nii Kwartei Titus Glover. Our MP's lack of activity in Parliament has left us yearning for a new, more dynamic representative," he shared with a group of journalists in an exclusive interview at Padmore School on Saturday.
Despite missing the energy of Titus Glover in Parliament, Charles Amos expressed confidence that Yohane Amarh Ashitey would bring a similar vibrancy to the role.
He mentioned that Amarh Ashitey has taken the lead in road construction projects in Tema, particularly in the Tema Manhean area.
Moreover, he highlighted that while Hon. Ashai Odamtten faced corruption allegations after serving as MCE before becoming an MP, Amarh Ashitey has maintained a spotless reputation.
Regarding their personalities, Charles Amos noted that Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey is more approachable, regularly engaging with constituents from all backgrounds, unlike the incumbent who only reaches out during elections or festivals.
“In terms of personality, Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey is more personable, regularly relating with constituents from all walks of life as against the incumbent’s tendency to touch base with constituents only during election times or festivals.
“The MCE, who is also the ruling NPP’s parliamentary candidate for Tema East is able to associate well with the constituents because of his depth of experience from the bottom of the social; strata to the top,” Hon. Amos added.
The MCE, who is also the ruling NPP's parliamentary candidate for Tema East, is able to connect well with constituents due to his extensive experience across different social strata, from humble beginnings to high-ranking positions in the telecommunications industry.
Charles Amos emphasized that Hon. Yohane Amarh Ashitey's diverse background and connections would benefit Tema East, making many eager for the opportunity to vote for him.
