Tempane MP launches 'Lydia League 2024'

The Member of Parliament(MP) for the Tempane Constituency in the Upper East Region, Lydia Akanvariba Lamisi Adakudugu, has inaugurated the highly anticipated "Lydia League 2024."

Lydia League is a football gala aimed at fostering unity among the youth of the Tempane District.

The event was officially launched at the Tempane Junior High School football field, with a grand ceremony that saw the participation of football enthusiasts drawn across the district.

The gala, which is expected to run from August through September, features a total of 17 local teams grouped into four clusters

Cluster A: Tempane City, Malam Babies, Barboaka Talented, Basyonde United.

Cluster B: Kugrago FC, Kongo FC, Banawa FC, Siguru FC.

Cluster C: Bugpiigu All Stars FC, Barboaka AT, Bugri FC, Nagani FC.

Cluster D: Woriyanga Wonderful, Kpakpira FC, Tico, Tubong Super Stars, Kpalugu FC, Gagbiri Red Lions.

In his opening address, the Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prince Iddrisu Atan, who spoke on behalf of the MP, emphasized that the primary goal of the event is to unite the youth of Tempane and promote peace and harmony.

He therefore urged participants to put aside their political affiliations and focus on the spirit of sportsmanship.

The NDC Youth Organizer for Tempane Sumaila Akubilla who also addressed the gathering, preached the importance of maintaining peace throughout the tournament.

He warned that any acts of intimidation or actions that threaten the peace of the event would be dealt with by the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

Each participating team was presented with a set of jerseys and footballs to ensure a successful tournament.

The "Hon. Lydia League 2024" promises to be an exciting event, uniting the youth of the Tempane District through the beautiful game of football.
