Tension mounts in V/R after two Alavanyos shot dead

Tension is mounting in Alavanyo in the Volta region following the killing of two people.

The deceased were shot on their farms Friday morning.

The incident comes days after some religious leaders attempted to resolve the protracted dispute between the Nkonya and Alavanyo communities.

Paramount Chief of Alavanyo, Togbega Tsedze Atakora, who confirmed the incident to Starr News accused indigenes of Nkonya of carrying out Friday's attack.

“We had funerals, so some people went very early to their farms to fetch foodstuffs in preparation for the funerals and then the information I had is that the Nkonya tribe shot two people.”

According to Togbega Atakora “We cannot fault any other traditional area but Nkonya”.

Several attempts to contact the Nkonya faction for their side of the story have proved futile.
