The District Road Improvement Programme is an unprecedented initiative – Evans Amihere

The DRIP project was launched by President Akufo-Addo on July 31, 2024 The DRIP project was launched by President Akufo-Addo on July 31, 2024

Former Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Ablekuma Central, Evans Amihere, has described the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) and commissioning of essential equipment as unprecedented.

He opined that this government has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that it remains committed to decentralisation.

The DRIP is designed to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the necessary resources and equipment to rehabilitate and maintain roads within their areas.

The initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to decentralisation, providing local authorities with the tools to effect meaningful change.

The president announced the commissioning of a comprehensive fleet of 2,240 pieces of equipment, including motor graders, backhoes, rollers, wheel loaders, bulldozers, tipper trucks, concrete mixers, water tankers, and low beds.

These machines are expected to play a crucial role in the nationwide improvement of road infrastructure.

Mr. Amihere explained in his submission that since 1992, the NPP has remained the only party that has always proposed new ideas and policies aimed at transforming the country, right from the district level.

“The NPP has always introduced new reforms aimed at transforming the country. Every party has its own ideologies and belief systems, but since 1992, the NPP has introduced better reforms across all sectors. So it is not surprising that President Akufo-Addo has launched the DRIP. It is something in our DNA. We are a central right party, and we believe in development, so it is not surprising for this initiative to be introduced.

The NPP Communicator stated that the initiative will help improve road networks and forms part of efforts aimed at decentralising development and improving the living conditions of the people.

He said this agenda must be commended because it demonstrates Akufo-Addo’s commitment to serving Ghanaians and providing outstanding leadership.

He said this when he appeared on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.

Meanwhile, he has appealed to Ghanaian voters to massively vote for the ruling NPP and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to continue on the foundation of the current President.

He said the Vice President is the only competent personality to manage the country and deliver the leadership Ghanaians want.
