The Kwabena Nketia Centre for Africana Studies of the University College of Communications and the GaDamgme Council will on August 9, organise the Annual Lecture and Cultural Festival, to celebrate the life and achievements of King Tackie Tawiah I, of the Ga State.
The event, which will be held on the theme: “Sharing Knowledge with the People”, will witness a medley of activities, including music, dance and exhibition, as well as funfair and fundraising at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The organising committee planned the activities to coincide with the Ga Homowo Festival, which forms part of the activities marking “The Year of Return”.
The function is open to the public and will start from 0930 to 2030 hours, with President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the Special Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Mrs Barbara Oteng-Gyasi, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, as the Guest of Honour, Mrs Bella Ayayee-Ahu, the President of the Ghana Tourism Federation and Mr Akwasi Agyeman, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority.
The Ghana Tourism Authority, which is organising “The Year of Return” activities, is one of the collaborators of the programme to promote it to a wider audience.
