This year’s Oguaa Fetu Afahye will focus on past and present contributions of Asafo companies to the development of the Oguaa Traditional Area and their strategies to promote progress of the area .
The week-long festival to be celebrated in the first week of September, will be launched on May 24 under the theme, “The Asafo companies, the past, the present and the future”.
This was made known when members of the Fetu Afahye Planning Committee interacted with some media personnel at the Emintsimadze Palace in Cape Coast on Wednesday.
Nana Kwame Adu VI, Tufohen of Oguaa Traditional Area and a member of the Planning Committee, enumerated the contributions of Asafo companies from the 1800s to the mid 1900 that culminated in Ghana achieving independence.
He said most of these achievements had been lost and since history is to help bridge the past and the present, it was important that the achievements of the Asafo companies as well as their contributions to development were brought to the fore.
Nana Ekow Ackon V, Twaafohen of the Oguaa Traditional Area and the Chairman of the Planning Committee, appealed to the media to assist the committee in publicizing the event to make it successful. **
