Three people mistaken as game shot dead

Nkawkaw, Jan. 19, GNA - Three persons taken as game by hunters have been shot dead in broad day light in the Kwahu South district for the past one month, a police source has said. Two of the hunters, Kofi Mensah and Kwaku Duku who have appeared before Nkawkaw Magistrate court on a provisional murder charge have been remanded in prison custody, while the third hunter, known as Tordia, a Togolese has escaped arrest.

The bodies of the diseased Alidu Adamu, 37, a farmer at Saafi near Nkawkaw, Kwesi Frimpong, a herbalist at Mframa near Kwahu Praso and Thomas Kweku Agyare, aged 43, a farmer at Nkawkaw Asubone have since been buried after an autopsy at the Nkawkaw Holy family hospital. According to police source, Adamu was shot dead by Todia on December 5 last year during a hunting expedition in a nearby bush at Saafi, while Frempong was also shot on December 18 last year, while climbing a tree he wanted to use for herbal preparation in a forest reserve near Mframa.

The police source said Agyare was also shot dead by a hunter at 1345 hours while plucking black pepper on a tree in the forest reserve near Nkawkaw Asubone.
