A GH¢ 55,000 three unit-classroom block for the local Presbyterian Junior High School has been inaugurated at Akyem Achiase.
The three unit-classroom block was built to replace the old one which was destroyed in a rainstorm, last year.
Daasebre Gyenin Kenten II, Chief of Akyem Achiase, who inaugurated the school, advised parents to always ensure that their children are in the house before they go to bed.
He said this would ensure that their children do not loiter in the night with “bad company” instead of learning or resting their minds for school the next day.
Daasebre Kenten II, attributed the mass failure of pupils in examinations such as the BECE, to parent’s inability to control their wards from loitering in the night.
He therefore urged parents to take good care of their children, monitor their movements and ensure they take their studies serious.
The chief advised teachers to guard against assisting their pupils to cheat in examinations and rather encourage them to learn hard.
He asked school authorities to develop a culture of maintenance to help prolong the life span of the facility.
Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, the out-going Eastern Regional Minister, reiterated government’s commitment to providing quality education by eliminating schools under trees.
He urged pupils to take their academic work serious to excel in their examinations.
Dr Apea-Kubi earlier inspected roads under construction in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District, including the Suhum to Asamankese and Suhum to Kwao roads.
He said government was ready to fund eight more major roads in the region.**
