Accra Oct. 6, GNA- The La Police on Thursday found the body of a three-year-old boy Safian Shaibu at the La beach after yesterday's heavy down pour.
Safian was said to have slipped into the drainage when his father Shaibu Yahya attempted to cross a gutter together with him at the La Mobil Station in order to get to their home. Speaking to the GNA, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mr Jordan Quaye said Yahya at about 1700 hours on October 5, left the house to trim Safian's hair at a nearby barbering salon.
Mr. Quaye said when Yahya got to the salon he met a queue and whiles waiting for his turn, Safian fell asleep. He said the barber therefore, suggested to Yahya to go and come the following day, adding that since the boy was asleep, it would be very difficult for him to trim his hair.
Yahya then left the shop and placed his son a bench, and accompanied a friend outside for snacks.
On Yahya's return, the rains had begun so he went to seek refuge at the La Mobil Filling station.
Whiles waiting for the rains to subside, Yahya carried the boy on his shoulders and in his bid to cross over a drainage, he and his son fell into the drainage and Safian got drowned. Yahya did not report the incident but the following day, Safian's body was washed ashore.
Mr Quaye said the police were investigating the case.
