Traditional rulers urged to initiate projects

Mankessim (C/R), Aug 18, GNA - The queenmother of Mankessim Traditional Area, Nana Araba Otua II, has appealed to traditional rulers to initiate development projects to complement efforts of the government and donor agencies.

Nana Otua who is the Chairman of WINIPAK Group of Companies, real estate developers, marine engineers and miners, made the appeal when she led newsmen to inspect the construction site of a library and a computer training school block she had initiated for the Mankessim community.

The block for the computer school was an abandoned warehouse, which the queenmother was renovating together with the library as part of her personal contribution to the development of the youth in the area. Nana Otua said she was much concerned about the youth of the area because activities at Mankessim, a major market centre, could impact negatively on their future if they were not properly guided.

She said she was soliciting support from some organisations in the United States of America for books and equipment for the library, the computer school and the local hospital.
