A tragic accident in the Upper East Region's Nabdam District has left two people dead and several others injured after a bus overturned near Nangode.

The incident, according to citinewsroom.com, occurred in the early hours of Friday after the driver of the bus, which was en route from Kumasi to Bawku, allegedly handed over control of the vehicle to his bus conductor (mate).

However, as the bus approached a speed ramp, the step-in driver lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn violently, the report added.

The impact resulted in the immediate deaths of two passengers, with many others sustaining injuries of varying degrees.

One of the passengers, Adam Iddrisu Emmanuel, recounted the harrowing experience, saying, "This morning, when we were coming from Kumasi to Bawku, the driver applied the brake, and suddenly the bus seemed to lose balance before hitting a bridge."

The bus had departed from Adehyeman, near Kejetia in Kumasi, and was bound for Garu before the tragic incident occurred.
