Training workshop on bee-keeping opens at Twifo Praso

Twifo-Praso(C/R), Oct. 27, GNA - The Management of Cape Coast Community Based Development Project (CBRDP) has released about 125 million cedis to members of Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District Bee Keepers Association to expand their operations.

Mr Richard Karikari, Secretary of the association announced this when addressing the opening session of a five-day bee keeping training workshop for 85 members of the association at Twifo Praso on Thursday. The workshop sponsored by CBRDP was to equip the participants with modern techniques on bee keeping.

He said in addition, CBRDP had pledged to finance about 50 per cent of projects undertaken by the association and appealed to members to work hard to improve on their living standards. Mr Karikari pointed out that CBRDP was established as one of the structures under the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy (GPRS) and urged the members to utilise the assistance it had offered to them. Mr Essah Kwame Gyaben, Chairman of the association said bee-keeping would be promoted in the district to provide the youth with employment skills and as an avenue to increase income=96generating activities for the people.

Mrs Gladys Mensah, Treasurer of the association told the members that loans granted to them were not gifts and should be invested well and endeavour to pay them back to enable others benefit. 27 Oct. 06
