Turing Foundation donates to Afoako ICCES

Afoako (Ash), Oct. 10, GNA - Turing Foundation Ghana, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has donated catering equipment, ceremonial uniforms and 10 Advanced Learner's Dictionaries worth 15,610 Ghana cedis to the Afoako Integrated Community Centre for Employable Skills (ICCES) in the Amansie Central District.

Mr Edmund Pinto, Country Director of the Foundation said the items were to enhance the growth and development of the Centre. He said it awarded scholarships to 10 needy students and purchased some text and reading books for the centre in the last academic year. Mr Pinto said the Foundation had stocked a library christened "Malcom Simminds" which it has established for the Centre with 155 books and would soon construct a computer laboratory for the Centre. Mr Robert Bennett Forkuoh, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Amansie Central, who received the items, thanked the Foundation for the donation and expressed the hope that they would promote effective teaching and learning.

He appealed to the community to assist the assembly in its efforts to ensure the proper development of the district. Mr Forkuoh advised the students to keep to their training so that they could improve on their performances. Nana Anthony Boateng, Ashanti Regional Director of ICCES, commended the management of the Centre for seeking external support to compliment that of the government. He said the government was committed to providing more avenues to help the youth acquire skills and knowledge to enable them to be self-employed and contribute to the socio-economic development of the nation.
