Two Children drown by flood water in Tuobodom

Two Children who are siblings namely Owuraku, 10, and Fiifi, 5, have been drowned by recent rain that occurred in Tuobodom a suburb of Techiman in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The two boys who attends SDA Basic School at Tuobodom were sent by their Mum Madam Theresa to go and buy Cerelac for their younger toddler were drown when crossing a foot bridge leading to their resident at Tuobodom Presby Mission.

The incident had happened when they went to a provision store popularly known as SY wife’s store to buy cerelac for their small brother. According to their Mother she did send them around 4:30 on Monday 31st January 2011 after a heavy down pour in the area.

She said when she detected that her sons had not returned at around 6pm she organized some search party to look for her sons but to no avail.

Madam Theresa said they even went extra of announcing the issue on Radio stations in the Techiman Municipality but there was no news about her children.

Amidst of wailing and lamentations Madam Theresa when narrating the story said at about 4:30 pm on Tuesday 1st January 2011 the news broke that her two sons had been seen drown in a an on-going gutter construction along the Techiman - Tuobodom road.

She said she couldn’t go to see her sons but was later informed that the Police had taken the children to the Techiman Holy Family Morgue waiting autopsy by Doctors.

She accused the Contractor of negligently undertaking the project without taking into consideration the primary schools along where the project is being executed.

Even though Madam Theresa had given what had happened to God, he further called on the necessary department or agency in the Municipality to do a thorough investigation into the case to know the actual cause of the death of her children.

In another development a 27 year old man by name Kwasi Nyamekye who is in charge of PY’s wife store collapsed and died instantly around 8:30 pm at Tuobodom when he complained of headache.

In a recent visit to the Town people were seen standing in groups discussing the two incidents.
