Two win international awards

Two Northern Region, based professionals have won international awards in recognition of their excellent contribution in the fields of health and music for the development of the society.

Dr Thomas Anaba, Chief Executive Officer of Habana Medical Service, located at Kakpayili, a suburb of Tamale, won the International Award for Excellence and Business Prestige 2015 at the 29th International Quality Summit Awards, organised by the Business Initiatives Direction, an organisation based in Spain in New York in May.

Abu Sadique, a Tamale-based Reggae Musician, also won the Marley D’Honneur 2015 Award at an international musicians’ festival held last month in Burkina Faso.

The International Award for Excellence and Business Prestige is given to an institution for its quality assurance service delivery while the Marley D’Honneur recognises excellence in music industry.

Both professionals presented their awards to Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, Regional Minister, at a ceremony in Tamale on Thursday.

Dr Anaba said it was through the goodwill of the people of the Kakpayili community and the country at large that the Habana Medical Service, that he established two years ago, won the award.

He thanked all for the support, saying Habana Medical Service would continue to provide quality healthcare services to all as well as helping to reduce congestion at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Abu Sadique described the recognition as humbling and expressed gratitude to God for blessing his work.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru congratulated the award winners saying they brought honour not only to the region but the country as a whole.

He said to be recognised internationally meant excellent performance and urged all to do their work with diligence to merit recognition.

He called on all to persevere in their various endeavours despite the challenges to achieve success.

He urged the youth to make good use of their talents to help develop society.
