Authorities of the Sogakofe Senior High School have expressed worry over the unfenced wall of the school, thus exposing students to potential rapists and thieves who take advantage of the situation to operate there during odd hours.
Last year, school authorities urged government and stakeholders to provide the school with fence, following intruders' attempt to rape a number of girls in their dormitories.
Mr Kwame Tewiah Aggor, Headmaster of the school, said the situation demanded urgent attention by government, but all efforts to fence the school had proved futile.
Mr Aggor told the Ghana News Agency on Thursday that despite repeated calls, nothing had been done, either by the government or stakeholders, putting the lives of the students and the staff in perpetual fear and to security risk.
He said the situation which became worse in November last year when impostors broke into the school compound, and tried to rape the Girls' Prefect in the middle of the night when she was visiting the “KVIP” toilet.
Mr Aggor said the school has only been able to redirect the entrance of the KVIP to the dormitory in the glare of students, with no form of external security measures to prevent any looming danger.
He said though the Police, the Town Planning Committee, Land Commission, the Survey Department and the Assembly, had been informed, these officials appeared not to be ready and willing to help the situation.
“Students are complaining of insecurity but the school is handicapped since we cannot fence the school to give them the needed protection they deserve,” he said
The headmaster, therefore, urged the Ghana Education Service and other stakeholders to come to the aid of the school, since the situation was worrying and getting out of hand.
