Veep Amissah-Arthur inaugurates renovated Air Force Officers’ Mess

Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur has reiterated Government’s commitment to adequately resourcing the security agencies to enable them to effectively and efficiently secure life and property.

He stressed that government would provide adequate facilities and improve remuneration and incentives to enhance the well-being of security personnel .

The Vice President directed the security agencies to properly maintain all facilities at their disposal so that they could last for use by the present and future service personnel.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur gave the order when he inaugurated a renovated officers’ mess of the Ghana Air Force, near the Elwak Stadium in Accra.

Described as a second home for the officers, a mess is a place where the officers derive various intrinsic and professional advantages and relax and refresh themselves after their arduous task of providing security for the nation.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur said:”I am told the Officers Mess is a most cherished social centre and a well-organised Mess is the pride of any of the Services.”

He commended the initiative of Air-Vice Marshal Michael Sampson-Oje, Chief of Air Staff to renovate the facility the status for which the men and women would feel proud of.

Air Vice Marsal Sampson-Oje said he was instrumental in the renovation of the Officers’ Mess to raise the image of the Air Force.

He congratulated the forebears for building officers messes for the Ghana Air Force, and noted that modernisation had caught up with the facilities and had consequently become a “ shadow pale of themselves “ and unattractive to officers.

Air Vice Marshal Sampson-Oje said: “It is against the background that I decided to actualize the idea of providing an ultra modern Mess facility for the Officers. It is my hope that the facility will whet up mess life and stimulate the esprit de corps among officers.”

He paid gratitude to the GHACEM and other benefactors who in assisted to make the project a reality.
