Vice President visits two Pineapple farms

Awutu Ofaakor (C/R) July 8, GNA -The Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama on Friday visited two Pineapple farms in the Awutu-Effutu-Senya district to start his three-day tour of the Central Region. The Farms are the Jei River Farm at Awutu-Ofaakor and George Field Farm at Osei-Krodua.

Mr. Christian Obu, Farm Manager of the Jei River Farm conducted the Vice-President round the farm and other offices of the company that exports pineapple to Europe.

Alhaji Mahama was accompanied round the farm by the Central Regional Minister, Mr. Isaac Edumadze, the District Chief executive for Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Mr. Solomon Quarshie Abban-Quaye, Mr. Kwesi Esserku, Presiding Member of the district assembly and Alhaji Ishaq Asuru, district coordinating Director.

Addressing the workers of the company later, Alhaji Aliu Mahama urged them to work harder to improve productivity and also urged them to use the laid down channel to vice air problems, instead of resorting to riots.

He said that the private sector is important to the government and that the necessary support would be given to it to grow. At the George Field farm, the General Manager, Mr. Frank Baffour conducted the Vice-President and his entourage round.

The Vice-President is expected to visit Citrus farms at Ekwamsa in Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam district, Regional Minister's farm, Coastal Grove Processing factory at Abakrampa and Fruit And Flavour factory at Asebu in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese district.
