Ho, Sept 7, GNA - Dr Joseph Teye Nuertey, Volta Regional Director of Health, Volta Regional Director of Health, Tuesday appealed to government to build a “befitting” block of offices for the Regional Health Directorate.
“It is only the Volta Region that does not have a health directorate of its own,” he observed.
Dr Nuertey made the appeal at the 2011 mid-year review meeting of health managers and directors in the region.
“We will be prepared to do ‘communal labour’ to reduce the cost of giving us a befitting office accommodation” Dr Nuertey said.
The Volta Regional Health Directorate, now located on the first floor of a one storey semi wooden structure, has undergone several extensions to accommodate more sections of the directorate with some other divisions and sections scattered in annexes in town.
Dr Nuertey was however optimistic that the Volta Regional Hospital would benefit from a programme to re-equip all Teaching Hospitals and Regional Hospitals in the country.
He urged health facilities in the region to pay serious attention to documentation which is one of the major weaknesses in health administration in the region.
“You must note that as it is said in America ‘if it is not written, it is not done’”.
He called for teamwork and cohesion in the region’s health delivery system.
Dr Nuertey who just assumed duty in the region promised to “run an open system of administration where constructive criticism would be welcomed towards building a strong and robust health care system”.
