The Asogli Traditional Council in the Volta Region has announced a ban on funerals in the Asogli Traditional Area, starting on Monday, August 12, and ending on Monday, October 8, in preparation for the 2024 Yam Festival.

The council made this decision to ensure a peaceful and successful celebration of the festival.

In a press statement signed by the Secretary of Asogli State, Stephen Tetteh, on July 8, 2024, the necessity of the ban was emphasized, urging residents to adhere to the directives.

The Paramount Chief, Togbe Afede XVI, along with his chiefs and queens, appealed to the general public to cooperate by strictly observing the funeral ban to guarantee a harmonious and successful festival.

Te Za (Yam Festival), an annual festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of the Asogli traditional area in September, serves as a time for the community to unite, strengthen bonds between families and friends, express gratitude to God and the gods of the land for a fruitful year and a plentiful Yam harvest, raise funds for community-based developmental projects, and support educational initiatives for brilliant and needy individuals in the traditional area.
