Ho, Feb. 20, GNA - The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has begun work on a development plan for the region and it will include inputs from all traditional areas. Togbe Afede IV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli State and President of the House, said this at Ho at a meeting of the. He said the region could not depend on government for everything and urged members of the House to make inputs into the plan in time to speed up efforts at improving the living standards of people. Togbe Afede appealed to the chiefs to be the "voice of the voiceless" and stand firm in defence of truth and in the interest of the people.
He appealed for co-operation from chiefs in the region towards the resolution of chieftaincy issues in order to focus on tackling developmental challenges of the region. He commended President John Evans Atta Mills and Vice President John Dramani Mahama on their election to the highest offices of the nation and pledged the support of the House towards alleviating poverty by enhancing the socio-economic development of the region. Mr Anthony Ahiabah, Registrar of the House, commended the House for ensuring peace throughout the region but said issues pertaining to membership of the House was becoming a great challenge and needed to be sorted out.
