An Educationist and Former Headmaster of T.I Ahamadiya Senior High School (SHS) in Kumasi, Professor I.K. Gyasi has called on officials of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) to accept the blame for the recent leakage of papers in the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE).

Some of the examination questions last week leaked on social media before the papers were written.

The WAEC has commenced investigations into the malpractices.

A similar scandal rocked the examination body last year leading to the cancellation of five papers of Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

The Renowned Educationist further blamed parents and students for patronising the leaked papers.

‘Obviously some of our students are not prepared to pass the exams the hard way by learning,…these days you have a student with 7 ones unable to get a school of his/her choice either a University or Polytechnic, so there is this fear that unless the student cheat, they won’t pass the exams. Again greed, if you do not sell the paper, the students will not buy, am putting the blame squarely at the doorsteps of the WAEC, they are the people who ensure that an examination come into existence and it’s properly conducted,’ he explained.
