Tarkwa (W/R) Oct.15 GNA, Wassa West District Assembly generated over 1.7 billion cedis (=A21,746,713,983.00) as at the end of September 2005. The amount represents 66.5% of the total Internally Generated projection of two billion, six hundred and twenty-four million, three hundred and forty-eight thousand cedis A22,624,348,000.00). Mr. Emmanuel Kwasi Ayensu, Wassa West District Chief Executive said these at the second ordinary meeting of the fourth session of the District Assembly at Tarkwa on Friday.
In the area of grants from the Central Government Agencies, he stated that the District Assembly received a total of A23.3 Billion Cedis as Mineral Development Fund.
Mr Ayensu said the Assembly also received A21.6 billion and =A2875 million being payments for the First and Second Quarter allocations of the Common Fund (C.F.). Touching on sponsorship, he disclosed that the District Assembly was to sponsor ten (10) candidates at Nurses Training Colleges throughout the country, adding, "it would spend two million cedis on each sponsored candidate".
He said the sponsored candidates would, on completion, serve the District for a specified period of time. He announced the construction of an Inner Perimeter on five playing fields in the District, namely; the Tarkwa Na Aboso Park, Aboso Victoria Park, Darmang Community Park, Prestea Scot Park and Bogoso. Furthermore, Mr Ayensu said in line with the determination of the District Assembly to improve conditions at the Tarkwa Na Aboso Park, eligible consultants were being invited to submit drawings on the upgrading of facilities at the park.
"It would then be followed up with discussions with the mining companies on how best the District assembly could collaborate with them to carry the rehabilitation through," he added.
