We need to intensify revenue generation – DCE

Mr. Alex Kwame Bonsu, Amansie West District Chief Executive (DCE), has urged assembly members to show greater involvement in revenue generation.

He said they should go to every length to make sure that rates and fees due the assembly are collected to help achieve set revenue targets.

Mr. Bonsu who made the call at an ordinary meeting of the Amansie West District Assembly at Manso Nkwanta, stressed the need to help people in their communities to appreciate the importance of paying taxes.

The Amansie West District Assembly estimated to collect GH¢334,600 revenue last year, but managed to rake in GH¢263,818.03, representing 78.85 per cent.

The DCE said as part of an aggressive push to strengthen its finances, the assembly has set up a special task force to carry out massive tax education campaign to promote compliance.

He also expressed concern about the growing encroachment on school lands and said this was totally unacceptable and would not be allowed to continue.

He announced the decision to procure 200 mono desks for distribution to four Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) centres at Datano, Antoakrom, Keniago and Pakyi Number Two.
