Western regional jubilee grounds handed over

Takoradi, April 1,-GNA-Contractors who worked on the Golden Jubilee Park in the Western Region, have been commended for their quality work and speed.

Mr. S. O. Affram, Consultant of the Ghana at 50 jubilee parks made the commendation at the handing over of the Western Regional Park to Mr. Anthony E. Amoah, Western Regional Minister on Saturday.

He said the contractors had reached the practical completion point and would be liable for any constructional or technical defects on the project from April 1 to September 30, this year.

Mr. Affram however said if after the six-month moratorium, there were no defects; the contractors would no longer be liable for any damages caused to the park.

He therefore appealed to the minister to ensure that adequate care is taken to preserve the lifespan of the project.

Mr. Affram stressed that though the project had been handed over, other uncompleted and ongoing works would be done before the six-month period. He said there would be a final inspection of the park in October 2007.

Mr. Amoah, receiving the keys said the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) would establish a committee to ensure the maintenance of the project.

He said the RCC would ensure that the uncompleted drainage would be done while a fence wall will also be constructed around the park. Mr. Amoah gave the assurance that all unfinished jobs would be completed before December 31 this year.
