Sunday’s tragic accident at Yamoransa Junction in the Central Region has resulted in more casualties with Comfort Adjoobi who was on board the Yutong bus, losing both arms whilst another victim lost his right arm too.
According to the Central Regional Commander of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service, Mr Paul Aduhene, one Samuel Odooku Selasie died last Sunday evening bringing to four the number of deaths so far.
Kwabena Obeng, 37, Kofi Agyeman, 35, and Nana Kwame, 25, died on the spot of the accident.
They were among 56 members of the Swaggard Hotel Keep-Fit Club who were travelling to tourist attraction sites in the Central Region.
The Police chief said they were yet to establish the cause of the accident but he believed the driver was driving tired.
On Sunday dawn at about 0430hrs, the driver of the Yutong bus travelling from Kumasi to the Kakum National Park crashed into a Mitsubishi Van which was ahead of it and later run into two other mini buses which were packed along the side of the road, eventually falling on its side.
Two people in one of the mini buses sustained minor injuries.
When the GNA visited the Central Regional Hospital, grieve- stricken relatives of both the dead and the injured who had trooped there, were seen frantically making efforts to have some of the victims transferred to hospitals in Kumasi.**
