Kumasi, June 1, GNA - Construction work on the three-story complex fo= r the Al-azhariya Islamic Senior High School (SHS) at Old Tafo, Kumasi, is progressing. It has classrooms, administration, dormitory, computer and science laboratories, library and offices. The Islamic Development Bank of Jeddah and Qatar businessman, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulgani, are funding the project. Sheikh Mohammed Kamil Mohammed, Director of the School, so far more tha= n GH¢200,000.00 had been sunk into it. He said the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has pledged to provide the school with a standard football field to promote sporting activities. Sheikh Kamil, who is also the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam of the Al-Sun= a Wal-jamaa, spoke about the importance of education and appealed to Muslims to give secular education to their children. He said it was by so doing that they could contribute to the nation's socio-economic development. Mr Hamis Ali, the Headmaster, said the school which has a student population of 300, offers courses in Arts, Business, Science and Home Economics.
