8TH 4-2014 The Paramount chief of Gonjaland Traditional area, Yagbonwura Sulemana Tuntunmba Bore Essa (1,) has stressed that peace and unity underpins the socio- economic and infrastructural development, for that matter there is the need as citizens of northern Ghana to promote the inter and intra tribal synergies among the tribal groupings. This according to him can help alleviate some of the numerous chieftaincy and land related disputes in Ghana.
Yagbonwura Bore Essa, said it is incumbent as citizens of Gonjaland to raise high the flag of peace and and to also endeavour to have a good human relation among its neighbours, since disunity and conflict can only retards development.
The king of Gonjaland made these admonishing during the familiarization Tour by the Honourable Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Muhamed- Muniru Limuna, at Damango, in the West Gonja District, under the Northern Region. He used the rare opportunity to appealed to the government of John Dramani Mahama, to as a matter of priority to provide quality and accessible drinking water under his kingdom, Saying that because residents are facing acute water problem it affect performance of the students, who usually trek long distances in search for water.
Yagbonwura Bore Essa further appealed to the government to endeavour to establish a teacher training college which would undoubtedly boost the education derive in the area.
He assured Alhaji Muhamed –Muniru Limuna, that his traditional enclave would give him all the necessary support to move the region forward for the betterment of the people.
On his part Alhaji Limuna, said he was in the Yagbonwuras palace to seek his blessing and wise council.
According to him Traditional Rulers are the major stakeholders of his administration and therefor needed to build bridges with them in order to help man the region.
Alhaji Limuna, was quick to add that development cannot take place in an atmosphere of conflict, land and fierce chieftaincy disputes, thereby entreating all and sundry in the region to ensure dialogue and Jaw-Jaw in resolving their differences.
He added that in a Traditional Kingdom where conflict and land disputes are rife it scare away potential investors and that would not inure to the benefit of its citizenry in the advancement of their localities,
Alhaji Limuna who himself an indigent of Gonjaland and apparently hailed from Damango, appealed to his father the Yagbonwura, to use his wise council, in arbitrating all chieftaincy and land related dispute in Gonjaland, citing a skin which is under a serious bone of contention in the Bole Traditional area.
He said as a formidable kingdom we should not allow politics to divide our front since we are one people with a common destiny.
The Northern Regional minster, said he has ventured into politics imbued with three basic disciplines, which he attributed as Truth, Love for one another and patience. According to him these qualities can help each and every one to achieve the highest echelon of their endeavour, He tasked. At Sawla Alhaji Limuna, met with the staff of the District assembly, where he urged them to eschew partisan politics, since it has the tendency to compromise their line of duties.
He charged on the DCE, for the area to ensure that their welfare are been adequately cared for. This good news was apparently greeted with a thunderous applaud by the large gathering of the Sawla Tunakalba District.
Alhaji Limuna, Limuna later called on the following respective paramouncis. They are the chief of Sawla, Bole, and Mo Traditional area , and his last point of called was the paramount chief of Buiepe Traditional Jurisdiction, where he espoused similar sentiments
Earlier, as part of his first leg of his familiarisation tour, he paid a visit to the following kingdoms in the region. There are as follows, the Gbewa palace, Zabzugu, Wulensi, Saboba, and the rest are the Bunkrugu, Walewale and the king of Mamprugu Traditional Area.
Honourable Northern Minister, Alhaji Muhamed- Muniru Limuna, was accompanied by the Regional Party Executives, The DCEs in the Gonjaland, The Regional Coordinating Director, Alhaji Alhassan Issahaku, and some Officials of the RCC, as well the Security Agencies in the Region.
