You Have Betrayed My trust - Togbega Gabusu Tells Muslims

The Paramount Chief of Hohoe in the Volta region, Togbega Gabusu has expressed disappointment in the actions of some members of the Zongo community for what he calls a “betrayal of trust”.

His comments come after some Muslims raided his Palace, vandalized property and made away with his regalia.

At a meeting at the Municipal Security Council between the Zongo Community led by Alhaji Tajudin Meriga and leaders of the Gbi Traditional Council, Togbega Gabusu described the incident as regrettable adding that such an incident should never happen again. He said the Muslims and indigenes of the community have lived in peace until the recent clashes.

Alhaji Meriga also used the opportunity to apologize to Togbe Gabusu and the Gbi Traditional Council for the actions of the Zongo community assuring that such an incident will not occur again.

Violent clashes between the Zongo community and indigenes of Hohoe last month claimed two lives and led to the destruction of properties running into thousands of Ghana cedis.

A GH¢4,000 has been set as a reward for the return of the regalia.

A dusk to dawn curfew was imposed by the regional Security Council after several residents fled the community.

MCE for the area, Dr. Margaret Kweku added that peace will now prevail in the community after both factions met to thrash out their differences.**
