A youth volunteer group at Adumasa, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region, has taken a bold step in combating illegal mining by arresting 13 suspects found mining in the Jimira Forest Reserve.

The group handed over the suspects to the local police.

Mr. Kwaku Forkuo, leader of the Adumasa Youth Volunteer, confirmed the arrest to OTEC news, emphasizing the group's commitment to stopping illegal mining.

He noted that they will collaborate with forest guards and other state security agencies to address the issue.

Following the arrest, the Forestry Commission of Ghana visited the community to commend the youth group for their efforts.

The joint efforts of the youth group and state agencies demonstrate a strong commitment to protecting Ghana's natural resources and combating illegal activities.
