Accra, March 27, GNA - The management of Zain, Ghana, has presented educational materials to the Suprudo Methodist School, in the Mfantseman District of the Central Region, to help promote education in the country. The materials includes, Ghana Education Service Certified text and story books, exercise books, school bags, drawing sets and lap desks. Mrs Carmen Bruce-Annan, Manager, Corporate Communications and External Affairs of Zain Ghana, who presented the items said, the donation forms part of Zain's "Build Our Nation" (BON) initiative, which was part of the company's corporate social responsibility.
"BON is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, which seeks to equip deprived government basic schools with books and teaching materials to help step up the quality of education. "Under this initiative, Zain collaborates with the Ministry of Education and local governments to identify the underprivileged schools, which are then supplied with the educational materials. "Zain knows that education is the best thing that can be given young children at this stage of their development so we create an enabling environment to help them study. "We hope that these children seize the opportunity given to them and study hard", she said.
Reverend Isaiah J. Quaigrain, Headmaster of the school, who received the items said, the school, made up of a Kindergarten, Primary and Junior High School, had a total population of 550 pupils but did not have enough study materials. "We have long looked forward to worthy interventions like this. Through this donation, not only are you making a life long investment in the children of Suprudo but helping in the development of the community and the nation at large", he said. Mr Quaigrain thanked the management of Zain Ghana and called on other corporate firms to emulate the gestures. 27 March 10
