Zingu community gets school block

Pupils of Zingu Community in the Wa Municipality will soon have their dream of attending school in their own community come to reality hopefully in a period of nine months.

This is because the GETFund has awarded for the construction, a three-Unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at the cost of GH? 150,201.21.

The project comes with a two-Unit library/Information Communication Technology (ICT) block with ancillary facilities at the cost of GH? 296,513.35 and four-Unit teachers’ quarters at the cost of GH? 259,514.64.

The contract, awarded to Bunas Company Limited, is expected to finish in nine months.

Mr. Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha, the Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), in receiving the parcel of land for the project from the community for onward handing over to the contractor expressed gratitude to the GETFund for the project.

Mr. Putiaha noted that government’s commitment to make education at all levels accessible to all no matter the location was prime and appealed to the contractor not to compromise on quality.

He also appealed to him to engage the community's young men and women as casual workers so that they could earn something to better their lot.

The MCE also appealed to the community members to serve as guards over the contractors’ materials and property so that unscrupulous people would not attempt stealing them.

Mr. James Sohimwinnye, Assembly man of the area, thanked the Municipal Assembly and the GETFund for the project, adding, he was particularly happy that pupils' walking far distances in search of education under the scorching sun was finally coming to an end.

He pledged on behalf of the community people to provide the contractor the needed support in terms of the safety of his materials and that of others.
