Zoomlion takes disinfection exercise to Akropong School for the Blind, others

Zoomlion Ghana Limited in collaboration with Citi FM has extended their disinfection exercise to notable institutions for the vulnerable as part of efforts to stop the spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

Thursday’s exercise saw over 300 trained personnel of Zoomlion armed with hand-held spraying machines, travel through Dzorwulu Special School, Akropong School for the Blind, Mampong School for the Deaf among others to carry out a thorough disinfection of their facilities.

The Coordinator for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Disinfection Exercise of the Zoomlion, Mrs Lola Asiseh Ashitey prior to the activities rolled out on Thursday, April 9, 2020 indicated that the move is an aggressive attempt to curb the spread of the virus which is subtly spreading in the country.

She observed that Zoomlion Ghana Limited has committed over GH¢1million for the ongoing nationwide Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease disinfection exercise.

“The amount covers major activities such as the disinfection of markets and institutions as well as cleaning up of some cities. And we believe that we must complement efforts of government through our Corporate Social Responsibility.

“We are certain that our contribution towards the fight against this monster coronavirus coupled with precautionary measures spelt out by experts in health sector will yield results for Ghana to overcome this pandemic,” she said.

She added that Zoomlion is in collaboration with Citi FM to disinfect all public tertiary education institutions and selected private ones.

Other institutions to benefit from the exercise include the University of Ghana, Central University, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology to mention a few.
