AMA Boss join Muslims to pray for new vision for Accra

Accra, Dec. 18, GNA - Dr Alfred Vanderpuije, Accra metropolitan Chief Executive on Friday joined Muslims at the Central Mosque at Abossey Okai to offer special prayers to realize the "New Accra for a Better Ghana" vision. The vision includes decongestion, improved sanitation and delivery of potable water and electricity.

Others are enhancing access to education, creation of recreational centres, turning waste into energy and beautification of Accra, to befit its status as the national capital.

Dr Vanderpuije, accompanied by assembly members, said the Accra Metropolitan Assembly was committed to implementing strategies to ensure the modernisation of the city.

He reiterated the assembly's determination to abolish the shift-system at the basic school level in the metropolis from next academic year. Dr Vanderpuije thanked Muslims for their support during the month-long clean-up exercise embarked upon by the assembly, which he said would lead to a reduction in the outbreak of diseases and enable the assembly to use its meagre resources on development projects.

National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu who led the prayers thanked Dr Vanderpuije for the visit. Dr. Vanderpuije will join other religious denominations on Saturday and Sunday to hold special prayers for the vision.
