Accra, Dec. 8, GNA - Maulvi A. Wahab Adam, head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana on Monday called on Ghanaians to accept the outcome of the presidential and parliamentary elections to facilitate the nation's rapid development and prosperity. He said the recent elections, to a large extent had been very peaceful hence the need for the nation to stay united. "The Peace that we seek for our country through good governance can only be found in our recognition of the principles that our creator has laid down...because God alone is the source of all peace". He said this when he delivered a sermon on the occasion of Eid-Ul-Adha, a sacrificial Muslim festival in Accra.
The festival marks the spectacular sacrifice by the Prophet Ibrahim's son Ismail in obedience to God's (Allah) command. He said the festival which was a culmination of the rituals of the Hajj, should not be considered as only a moral and spiritual upliftment but also serve as a reminder of the need for sacrifice in nation building.
Maulvi Adam said, it was not a mere co-incidence that the sacred days of elections fell on both Christians and Muslims days of worship but, "God wanted to bless the nation with peace within the period". He led the congregation to pray to God to sustain the peace the nation was enjoying as a fulfilment of the hopes and aspirations of the nation's fore fathers.
