Apam (C/R), Aug 18, GNA - The Chaplain of the St Luke Catholic Hospital at Apam, the Reverend Father Augustine Essel, has condemned spouses who do not allow their in-laws to visit their homes but welcome their own relatives. Rev. Fr. Essel said such discriminatory practices must stop as it did not promote peace at home and contributed to broken marriages. In a sermon to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Ordination of Rev Fr Jude Eduafo Ampah, Parish Priest of the Apam St Joseph Catholic Church, the Chaplain expressed regret that some Christians were culprits.
He said God does not discriminate so His followers must also not. "What is good for the goose is also good for the gander," he stressed and advised spouses to treat their in-laws the way they would want their relatives to be treated. Rev Fr Essel stated that: 93When it rains both Christians and non Christians benefit from it so Christian spouses should also to let everybody to benefit from their marital homes." He also advised Christians to extend their services and hospitality to both the rich and poor in their fold and not discriminate in favour of the rich. Rev Fr Ampah, a citizen of Saltpond, was ordained in 1986 and has been the head of the St Joseph Parish for the past five years.
