Anglican Archbishop-elect congratulates Ghanaians for peaceful election

The first Anglican Archbishop-elect of the Administrative Province of Ghana, Most Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, has congratulated Ghanaians for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the December 7, polls.

He said there was the need for all to live together to maintain the peace that the country was enjoying.

Most Rev Dr Sarfo was delivering a sermon at the inauguration of the Province and his enthronement as the first Archbishop at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi on Sunday.

The Archbishop, who is also the Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has 10 years to serve.

He appealed to those jubilating and those challenging the election results to be very cautious on the path they thread in order not to destroy the peace and tranquility in the country.

He called for a unity government instead of the winner takes all principle, explaining that there seemed to be polarisation looking at the results of the election and the only way was unity to ensure stability and development.

Most Rev Dr Sarfo called for support from his colleague bishops and mobilisation of resources to ensure the growth of the province and the church.

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II presented a brand new Toyota Prado saloon car to the Anglican Archbishop-elect to facilitate his work.

Among the dignitaries present were the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kwaku Agyemang-Mensah and other religious leaders.
