Annual Methodist Guild conference opens in Sunyani

The 24th annual delegates’ conference of the Methodist Guild of Ghana has opened in Sunyani.

The four-day conference is being attended by 600 delegates from all the 16 dioceses in the Connexion.

It is on the theme: “I am the way – witnessing to Christ today, mobilizing our Connexional resources for ministry”.

The Methodist Guild is one of the intergenerational organisations in the Methodist Church Ghana with a total membership of 15,000.

Guild executives at the conference are expected to account for their stewardship and help improve the performance of the organisation from the societal to the Connexional level.

Mr Gordon Seth Owusu-Ansah, Connexional President, said the various dioceses are doing well in the field of evangelism and have yielded fruitful results including the establishment of churches.

Mr Owusu-Ansah appealed to the members of the diocese to do more and avoid complacency “as evangelism is our core business”.

He said the Methodist Guild Ghana Scholarship Scheme, which was launched in 2008, with the objective of training more leaders, is in progress.

Mr Owusu-Ansah said the scheme has spent GH?25,812 on scholarships adding that it has also donated GH?1000 to support the operation of a hole-in-heart member of the Effiduase Diocesan Guild.

He said the Guild has also established an endowment fund with an amount of GH?2,000 for the children of the late Brother Isaac Minta, a past Vice President of the Sunyani Diocese.
