Bible Society of Ghana launches 2010 Bible Week

Accra, Feb.7, GNA - The Bible Society of Ghana that makes Bible accessible to those interested in the study of the gospel, on Sunday launched its annual Bible Week celebrations at the Burma Camp Church of Pentecost in Accra.

The programme which is held in the second week of February every year is also used to raise funds to support activities of the Society.

Speaking at the launch, Reverend Kofi Owusu, General Secretary of the Society, called on all to consider God's word as the only solution to the problems of "a world which is fast changing with its devastating consequences and loss of hope for many."

He said the Bible week is also used to build bridges between churches and denominations since it has a uniting force to bring all Christians together and also to thank God for the availability of the Bible in about many Ghanaian languages.

Rev. Owusu expressed joy about the fact that churches which otherwise acted independently come together to celebrate the Bible Week".

Rev. Dr. Akoto Bamfo, Senior Pastor of Charismatic Evangelism Ministry, asked Christian to have faith and hope in God since He is the only solution to all our problems.

"Just as P0eter, the fisherman had faith in the words of Christ and decided to cast his net again after several fruitless attempts, so much we Christians believe in every word that proceeds from the mouth of God," he said.

Highlights of the celebrations include a Bible Sabbath day at Seventh-Day Adventist Church at Burma Camp and Bible Sunday at the Zimmerman Presbyterian Church, Nungua, where Bibles would be sold at reduced prices.
