Calvary Baptist launches anniversary activities

The Calvary Baptist Church of Ghana is set to commemorate the golden jubilee of its establishment in the country, under the theme: "God In Action, ‘Then, Now and the Future.’"

Several activities including health walk, donations to hospitals, homecoming, among others, have been lined-up to mark the celebration.

Speaking at the launch of the year-long celebration which is expected to commence in December 2017, Senior Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Rev.
Fred Deegbe indicated that the anniversary will provide the opportunity for members and leaders of the church to reflect on the past, the present and the future of their ministry.

On the history of the Church, he explained that “Baptists have been in Ghana since the 1900s particularly among the Nigerian traders.”

“The first indigenous Ghanaian (Baptist) Church was in Boamang in 1959,” he noted, adding that Calvary Baptist Church was established in 1964 and was initially referred to as the English-speaking Baptist Church of Accra.

According to him, the Church has over the years impacted lives with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and has aside that helped the needy through corporate social responsibility intiatives.

Touching on the future, he said, the leadership of Calvary Baptist Church was considering reaching out to the world, rebranding, planting of churches and investing in education and training of disciples.
