The Reverend Fitzgerald Odonkor, General Overseer of Harvest International Ministries, on Wednesday admonished Christians to develop the culture of 'spiritual stock-taking,' which should focus on their duties to God, the family, neighbour, and nation.
He asked Christians to reflect on: “What kinds of success are available to you in this world today? What does success look like to you? What in your life has caused you to arrive at this definition? Who or what in your past has influenced your vision of what a successful life looks like?
“Does your definition include any of God’s perspectives and purposes? How do your Godly perspectives impact your actions?
Rev. Odonkor made the statements in an interview with Ghana News Agency, as a prelude to the “2014 Overcomers Convention”, which is on the general theme: “Blessed to Serve.”
The Convention, slated for November 26 to 30 at the Harvest Chapel International headquarters at Tesano, would be attended by Rev. Eastwood Anaba, founder of the Fountain Gate Chapel, Bolgatanga; and Rev Dr Isaac Quaye, General Overseer of the Word of Life Christian Centre in Accra.
Others are: Rev. James Nii-Amponsah of the Liberation Bible Church, Accra and the Evergreen Harvest Gospel Choir.
Rev Odonkor said: “As we stand on the threshold of ending the year, it is right for us to pause and rehearse all the blessings of God upon us in 2014, as a nation, individual believers and corporate bodies.
“I will mention the loving kindness of the Lord and the praises of the Lord according to all that the Lord has bestowed on us; and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he has bestowed on them according to his mercies and according to the multitude of his loving kindness (Isaiah 63 v7)”.
He said the Harvest Chapel International is using the five-day event as spiritual empowerment and stock taking platform for all Christians “to stop, reflect and move on as we prepare to enter 2015”.
He said the Church in 2014 created a platform, which schooled Christians on: Waiting on the Lord,” “The Kindness of God,” “The Power of God,” “The Holy Spirit,” “The Name of Jesus,” “Faith in God,” “Christian Fellowship,” “True Prosperity,” “Seeking and Saving the Lost,” “The Fruit of the Spirit,” “Biblical Giving,” and “Walking in Love”.
