Christians have been called upon to shun negative attitudes and enter year 2013 with Godly behaviour as that is the only way the nation could achieve her socio-economic developmental target.
Nana Amonkona Nimpong, Traditional Ruler at Wamfie in Dormaa West, gave the advice when he interacted with newsmen at his Sunyani residence.
The 76-year-old traditional ruler, in his Christmas message, said Christ died to atone for the sins of mankind and reminded Ghanaians to always be conscious of the biblical verse Jesus Christ taught his disciples; “Love your neighbour as yourself.”
He said politicians would do the nation a lot of good if they allowed the fear of God to guide them in all their deliberations rather than rely on their academic and intellectual competences alone.
“Politicians of all religious divides must be imbued with the essence of loving one another. Any true Christian, who is worth his or her sort, will not cheat a neighbour nor do anything to ruin the progress of the entire nation,” he said.
Nana Nimpong said people who had the desire to follow Christ must possess “positive vibration” in their day-to-day lives to help them do away with negative attitudes.
He said: “Darkness fears light and so it is that positive vibration that attracts good omen. Remember to do to others as you want others to do to you”.
Nana Nimpong regretted that after 55 years of independence Ghana, with all the natural and human resources, was still fighting hard to stand on her feet socially and economically.
He blamed the woes of the nation mostly on the lack of a national agenda and the unpatriotic attitude of many of the governed. "The nation indeed needs an agenda, as witnessed during the First Republic of Dr Kwame Nkrumah, to propel her to achieve her socio-economic plans," he said.
Nana Nimpong urged successive governments to continue with the work of previous governments to improve on the development of the country.
He said what pertained in the nation where most projects were neglected by successive governments were not the best and that this could only be changed with the institution of a national agenda.
He called on the public to live in love with one another emphasizing that “if you have true love for your neighbour you will continue to pardon him or her no matter the sin committed against you”.
