One of Ghana’s oldest and renowned Counselors, Agya Abrefa who is now Chief of Kwahu Brukuruwa and bears the stool name, Nana Osei Twum Brefa IV, has cautioned the youth to shun cohabitation which has become a common pre-marital trend.

He said cohabitation is not marriage and advised the youth not to confuse the two.

Speaking on Efisem on Kasapa 102.3 FM, Agya Abrefa explained that cohabitation is an arrangement where two people who are not married live together sexually in an intimate relationship on a long-term or permanent basis which usually results in procreation.

He said once a woman does not allow herself to be married but goes to live with a man she suffers the consequences which comes along with it.

He said such women out of fear are unable to inform their families especially when they are being maltreated.

Agya Abrefa indicated that when a young man allows a woman to live with him whereby the two are not married when the woman dies, the man will be forced to marry the woman before she is buried.
