Do more to fight social evils - Rev Ofori-Atta

The church has been urged to do more to help purge the society of growing corrupt and evil practices.

The Reverend James Nana Ofori-Atta, Head Pastor of the Northern Sector of the Action Chapel International, said this demands courage to denounce unacceptable conduct.

Making the call through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, he said they should use the pulpit to encourage the people to uphold values of self-discipline, integrity and respect for law and order and that people must be aided to lead decent and dignified lives.

He said they should not be allowed to ruin themselves through drugs, alcoholism, prostitution, homosexuality and illegal abortion among others.

The Rev Nana Ofori-Atta, who is also the Executive Director of the Rescue Gospel Mission International, an NGO dedicated to the rehabilitation of drug addicts, underlined the need to intensify the church’s evangelization and youth development programmes to help them to conform to acceptable standards of social behavior.

He said it is also important for the church to lead efforts at promoting responsible parenthood to give adequate protection to the youth.
